Farah Acher Kaiksow, MD, MPP
Dr. Acher is a hospital medicine clinician and health equity researcher. Her specific area of expertise is at the intersection of incarceration and health, with a focus on the impact of hospitalizations on the rapidly growing population of older incarcerated adults. Her previous work examined the financial implications of Medicare hospitalization policies on patients with different socioeconomic status. Her research has been funded by the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. As a practicing hospitalist, Dr. Kaiksow provides acute care to adult patients in inpatient settings at both the UW Health and VA hospitals, where she also provides clinical instruction to medical students and residents. She is a core faculty member for both the Health Equity and Global Health Pathways of the Internal Medicine Residency program. She is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Hospital Medicine and a member of the Department of Medicine's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
